Bend Over, Here It Comes Again: With the removal of the district court's temporary restraining order due to lack of jurisdiction, and the defection of one of the brave Republican holdouts, more than $800 million in new taxes passed into law with barely a 2/3 majority. It remains to be seen whether the NV Supreme Court's incompetent and frightening decision to disregard the NV Constitution's 2/3 voting requirement on taxes will be overturned on appeal to a higher Federal Circuit Court, since the final tax measures did ultimately pass with a 2/3 vote. The worst outcome would be for the situation to remain ambiguous: the Nevada Supreme Court will be under the impression that it can disregard the NV Constitution at its whim, and spendthrift legislators will believe (rightly) that simply uttering the phrase "it's for education!" will be sufficient to overcome any obstacle to new spending or taxes. Until this situation is resolved, the state remains in grave danger. It's time to recall the six incompetent, autocratic, power grabbing NV Supreme Court justices who arrogantly perpetrated this outrage! The only positive outcome of this whole affair is that for now at least the GRT (Gross Receipts Tax) was not passed.
